FAQs

  • We do not currently offer piercings—we are a tattoo-only studio!

If you are looking for piercing recommendations, start here.

  • Living Lore Tattoo is located at:

    8030 Main Street, Third Floor

    Ellicott City, MD 21043

The nearest parking lots are downtown lots A and B.

  • Our working hours differ from artist to artist, but you can generally expect the studio to be open:

    Monday-Saturday: 10am to 7pm

    Sunday: Closed

  • We are appointment-only, therefore we do not accept any walk-ins.

  • Street parking is available, though limited. There are multiple nearby parking lots that offer more parking. View the Old Ellicott City parking map here. Lots B and A are closest to the studio and usually less crowded.

  • We are a small studio, so space is limited. We prefer if you show up for your appointment by yourself, but you can always talk with your artist about bringing someone with you.

  • Living Lore Tattoo is lucky enough to be located at the heart of Old Ellicott City, which means we have tons of shops, cafes, and restaurants within walking distance of our studio! We highly recommend you check out Matcha Time Cafe’s gift shop, located right downstairs in our building. If you are curious about other local businesses, here is a list of shops on Main Street.

  • Short answer: yes! For most people, tattoos will be painful. For many, the pain is very manageable. The level of pain depends on different factors, but placement is the most prominent. Areas like the ribs, calves, tops of the feet, and chest may be more painful than others. If you are concerned about pain, let your tattoo artist know so that they can make recommendations about tattoo placement or give you strategies to help alleviate any anxiety you may have!

  • We do not use or recommend any numbing products for our tattoos. Pre-tattoo numbing creams and gels tend to wear off after a few hours, which can leave the client in more pain than if they weren’t used in the first place. Some numbing products can also change the consistency and texture of the skin, making it hard for your artist to execute your tattoo. There are some products that your artist may use during the tattoo process, but that will be entirely at their discretion.

  • We have a strict 18+ age restriction policy here at Living Lore Tattoo.

  • All deposits are non refundable, unless otherwise discussed by your tattoo artist.

  • Any tattoo done at Living Lore Tattoo is eligible for a free touchup at your artists’ discretion and within reason.

  • We are an inclusive studio, therefore we do not tattoo any controversial symbols. Examples of this would be swastikas, political symbols, or other hate-related iconography. Each artist has their own stance on tattooing religious symbols, so be sure to discuss your idea with your artist to ensure that it is something they are comfortable tattooing.

  • We are a fully custom tattoo studio, therefore we never copy another artist’s work directly. If you find a tattoo that you like, you are more than welcome to show it to your tattoo artist and have them use it as inspiration, but we will never copy any artwork or design line for line.
